Career and Financial Management

What is It?

Career and Financial Management (CFM) is a one-half unit Career and Technical Education (CTE) course required for students in all New York State Approved CTE Programs. It is also commonly included in locally developed CTE sequences. CFM can be taught as a stand-alone course or integrated within an approved CTE program.

Career Management Module

  1. Become aware of your own interests, values, strengths, and weakness.
  2. Obtain information about job opportunities. 
  3. Identify career goals and create SMART goals.
  4. Establish action plans to achieve career goals.
  5. Create a professional About Me page showing your talent, skills, and employability in the working world.

Financial Management Module

  1. Develop, propose, and create a budget that aligns with future goals.
  2. Obtain the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies that contribute to financial responsibilities.
  3. How to establish a credit history, invest money, and creating savings for various financial goals..
  4. Identify the contributing factors of borrowing money and consequences of not meeting those responsibilities.
